DESCRIPTION

The AM General M151 "Mutt" is a four-wheel drive utility vehicle that was developed in the early 1950s as a replacement for the aging Willys M38/M38A1. Over the course of its life, it was used by the US military during the Vietnam War and the Gulf War, and it was also exported to a number of other countries.  With some M151A2s remaining in service until 1999, it holds the record for the longest run of service for a light utility vehicle in the US.

Constructed with an integrated frame and front/rear independent suspension with coil springs, the M151 is a far more stable and comfortable 4x4 than its Willys-designed predecessors.  The A2 model of the 1960s forward, such as the one seen here, included a semi-trailing a suspension to address the high-speed cornering rollover issue that plagued earlier models.  The fix effectively makes A2 models and beyond nearly impossible to roll.

This particular 1972 AM General M151A2 is a must-have for any military enthusiast or collector. It comes equipped with replica weaponry, including a mounted belt-fed M60, a functioning radio, fold-up top, freshly-installed batteries, and surplus equipment.  It is an extremely original example and shows period-correct configuration.

This ¼-ton is sure to turn heads wherever it goes and is perfect for military parades, reenactments, or simply cruising around town. Don't miss out on this opportunity to own a piece of military history!
